BLOG NOTES:

This set of 4 videos was put together with extra stock footage that we shot of Bob during the production of his other videos. Half of if, the large field, pathway and ruin scenes were filmed during the same production day as "Expert Martial Artist vs. Pumpkin Giant". We had some sunlight left after the shoot and decided to take a stroll around the park and get some extra material in the magic hour.

The sequence where Bob is "Knocking The Sky" was actually one of the very first Expert Martial Artist shorts we shot. However, this was ultimately never put together in its original form. Bob was supposed to be raising a UFO, hidden behind hills, and then controlling it in mid air, finally pushing it back into outer space where it came from. The idea was scrapped as we did not have the best lighting from shot to shot, and the lens in use at the time had very bad corner softness at just about all aperture settings. None the less, the footage stuck around for a nearly a year and was finally used in this production.

The rest of the footage comes from both used and unused footage of the "Sensei Bob's Komodo Kan Karate" series opening, along with some of the sitting in a tree footage that was used in the "Expert Martial Artist Montage And Shoe Tie" video.

The warrior and other Taoist, Zen and Martial Arts related quotes were used to divide the footage up, mainly because the majority of it was never meant to be edited in sequence, but instead be bumpers and opening material for other future videos. Unsure if we are actually continuing production with some of our series, I decided to go forward and use the left over material. The overall idea was to use up all of this extra footage to put a close on the 2009 Expert Martial Artist related comedy material.

As for the on location happenings, often times there were people walking by watching our Martial Arts madness, none the less Kyle stayed right in character. Random observers do not phase Sensei Bob. Much of the ruin sequences were shot on tripod while I stood off in front of both Kyle (Bob) and Dhanraj (Punching Bag), performing meditation movements for them to follow. This way it would appear they were in harmony with one another.

Unfortunately the classic Karate Kid crane pose didn't result in such a nice harmony at all. Dhanraj just couldn't get his footing right up on that stone, resulting in loss of balance. This however worked out really well as Punching Bag Wang is supposed to be Sensi Bob's pupil/follower, and is not quite on Bob's level. In all actuality, Dhanraj is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a force to be reckoned with in real life. It's just that he plays such a great jobber onscreen, so we roll with it time and time again.
